Happy New Year from La Terrasse du Village. We have had a truly wonderful Christmas and New Year period. With lots of different events on over the last couple of weeks it has been an exciting time in Meribel Village.

We started the celebrations with Christmas carols on our Terrasse with local band The Mardy Johnny Depps. We the vin chaud flowing and chestnuts roasting on an open fire (well actually a BBQ) we had a terrasse full of merry people singing along to classic carols.

For a few days over Christmas we had Roast Turkey with all the trimmings on our menu, the kitchen worked really hard to do almost every trimming imaginable.  The team finally sat down and enjoyed Christmas dinner too on Boxing Day evening. With even a special appearance from Father Christmas (chef James) to help dish out our secret Santa!

But the best Christmas present was the Lapin Piste opening that is just opposite the restaurant on Boxing Day.

The few days before New Year’s Eve we turned our new outside bar into an Oyster and Champagne bar, to celebrate the beginning of the New Year with acoustic music on our sunny terrasse each afternoon.

New Years Eve itself was an absolute success. With a fully booked restaurant we are lucky to have tables that come to us every year for their New Year during their holiday. We took it back to the 80’s and had a set menu that were modern twists on old classics. Such as prawn cocktail that was lobster and crayfish with a Marie rose foam. Duck à l’orange, glazed with a cointreau reduction or crown of lamb crusted with rosemary and thyme. And for the grand finale of the evening a flaming Baked Alaska with perfect Italian meringue and rich amaretto soaked sponge.

With more snow on the forecast, we are all looking forward to the rest of the 2017 winter season and hope to see you here soon!
